Growing up to fast!

I am reminiscing on Kaleb's pictures today. We had pictures taken through Taylor Haynie Photography a few weeks ago to finish out our baby steps program. She does an amazing job! I love our pictures with her! From maternity to 15 months...

Kaleb has grown up way to fast! He is not that newborn baby anymore.. but a little boy!

He is fixing to be 16 months old!! We never went to the 15 month check up a few weeks ago, I had to reschedule for this upcoming Friday. I am anxious to hear how he is growing. I love Dr. Farr and Birmingham Pediatrics. He has been great to Kaleb!
I love hearing his development through him, becuase he assures me he is learning like he should be. I alway fear he is behind since I dont stay home with him and he goes to daycare. I always hate the comparision with him and other kids that get to stay home. I feel like if I was at home he would talk more and learn faster. If I ever stay home with our other children, I hope I dont regret how I have delt with raising Kaleb. That I have have put all my attention towards him and tried to teach him as much as I can. But working is the choice I made... Just hope it was the right one.

Last night we went outside to wash my car. He absolutely loves being outside! While mommy and daddy washed my car, he got the rag and starting washing his little red car! He could play for hours outside if we would let him! we only get to outside though later in the afternoons, because it is so dang hot! He loved playing in the water!

We were able to set up his basketball goal that he got for his birthday the other afternoon. We are teaching him other ways to play ball besides throwing it. Lately he throws everything!! Kinda annoying.. so we try and teach him to bounce it or roll it. We are also working on the catching part. He is a little slow at it. =)
Daycare teacher said she is scared he will throw it ( whatever is in his hand) at her head. He throws everything in there too! Hopefully we will get a good school scholarship out of all this!

Speaking of Daycare, He moves up the first of Aug. I believe Aug 13th. This next class is such a huge step for us. They go tot he lunch room to eat, and the gym to play and they have do " big kid" stuff all day long with one nap. The nap is also on a cote. which is crazy to me, I don't think my child is ready to a cote. Seams like he will fall of it or just play on it and not sleep. I know he will have tons of fun in the gym and with the big kids, but I don't know that I am ready.

Canning

Starting off my weekend ,I had alittle chore I needed to accomplish. Jake and I picked 2 buckets of tomatoes out of our garden. I had already canned a good bit last picking.. so I decided to try making my own spaghetti sauce. I thought that would be something different that I knew we would eat later. I had already done several things of salsa too.
So I went to pinterest and a few other websites and stumbled across this one.
After putting Kaleb to bed Friday night , I gave Jake my list of groceries for the store. He got back , and I got to work around 10. After you mix everything , it has to boil for 1-2 hours...( sigh) so I didn't see sleep until around 1. Morning was going to be rough since I had not pack up for us to travel to Georgia. Yicks!! But overall my experience with the sauce was great. A little salty, but good. Next time I will do some things different and also start this project in the middle of the day , so I can get in the bed at a decent hour! Take a look a the pics...

chopping up 16 cups of tomotoes was the hardest!! I am not good at pealing and chopping!

add and mix all the ingrediants

bring to a boil for 1-2 hours

pour into your clean mason jars.

sit in a water bath for 30 minutes.

I have always enjoyed learning and trying new things. Jake was proud of me too =)
I love being married to a farmer =)

Southern Recipes

Me, being the awe-some wife I am... I love to cook different stuff for my hubby!

I wanted to share a few I read today in "tasteofHome" magazine!
( bored moment at work)

This first one is something every southern belle should have in their pantry!
Biscuit mix!!

4  ingredients combined in a air tight container makes 12 cups. You add your personal touch when you get ready to make biscuits with your meal. Example.. buttermilk, regular milk, cheese, herbs. etc..

9 cups all purpose flour
1/4 cup baking powder
1 Tbsp. salt
2 cups of shortening

I think every meal should have a side item. Most of the time, my side items are always carbs. lol so of course I loved this recipe!
Have you every had leftover mash potatoes? Your wondering what can I do different with these leftovers?
light bulb
Fried potatoes patties!!! I make these a good bit! But this recipe is a twist from that traditional Pattie

Loaded Cheddar -Corn Potato Patties

1 cup sour cream
2 Tbsp. plus 1/3 cup of thinly sliced green onions
2 cups mashed potatoes
1/3 corn meal
1 3/4 cup garlic salt
1/2 tsp. smoked paprika ( i just have the reg. kind)
2 cups of milk
1 pack of thawed corn
1 cup of shredded cheese

mix all together and separate into patties. Spray frying pan before cooking. Cook 2-3 minutes on both sides or until golden brown.

ENJOY !!!

office project, glory and the weekend!

Remember those Georgia silhouettes from a previous post? I got the chance this weekend to finish up Jake's office. Take a look!

Before

After

Here are the silhouette's! kinda silly, but I like them!

Is that not the coolest lantern?? that and the lamp was a great yard sale find!!

And I had to put a few inspiration quotes in there for the times the room gets heated =)

With the help of donations, yard sales and thrifty buys from Burks Outlet clearance..and my fellow friends at Jeffcoat,  I think I pulled it off pretty good!!
I tried to stay in a budget and I tried to keep it manly. If Jake is happy , I am happy.

We got a chance to do all this Saturday morning. Also on Saturday I had to swing by Galleria Animal Clinic and pick up my sweet dog. She had surgery on her tail. She feels all better and we are so glad to have her back home!
I will spare you pictures of her stitches.. and shaved be-hind. They are disturbing. but here is a picture of her at home.

Kaleb was thrilled to have her home as well. He loves playing with her. Before the surgery, she would get angry becuase her butt hurt. She wasnt acting like herself. Now, Kaleb can play hard with her, and Glory doesnt mad anymore!

Sunday was a lazy day. We went to church and then came home and had lunch and play time with Aunt Anna and Uncle Alex! I loved spending time with Cael too =)
Such a sweet cuddle bug!
I didnt want to do a thing, but just sit on the couch and chill out for awhile.
I had supper in the crock pot ... so my afternoon was great!
I hope yall had a great weekend too!!

Here is the recipe I had in the crock pot

3 Envelope Pot Roast
(One of Jake's Favorites, and super easy)

1 Package of dry Italian mix
1 package of dry onion gravy mix
1 package of dry AU Jus mix

Mix all together with 5 cups of water.. ( or enough to cover the roast)
and pour over the roast. Cook on high for around 6 hours.

serve with veggies and you are set!!
ENJOY!

Happy 4th of July!

Hope everyone has had a wonderful and safe 4th of July!

I wanted to share my mantal and of course my little buddy dancing around in his holiday t-shirt!

I am proud of my mantal and that I only spent 5 dollars on the flag-star in the middle. I found that little piece at Big Lots. The rest of it was found around the house!

We enjoyed the 4th swimming and grilling out with family!

suyl- Dinning Rooms

My Dinning room consists of Antiques mostly.
My furniture was my great grandmothers. The round picture hanging on the wall was my grandmothers ( moms mom) and the china in the cabinet was a gift from a friend after the tornado. To her I believe it was a family members that had past.

I love my dinning room even though it doesnt get used very often. Unless I am doing some craft project. All of my scrapbooking items and paints and ribbons are in the buffett. I have interest in making a new wreath to hang in between the windows. I would love a bright white one with a bold ribbon maybe?!? We will see.
Also in my dinning room, I have the laundry room attached. So the table becomes a folding station as well!

Hope you enjoy!!
As you can see, this room serves for many purposes!! Always messy!

The blue in the China matchs the Blue in the Round picture.

Absolutly love intials.. I have a C hanging, I have a C cheese board on the buffett and the letter C on the clear glass plates and the letter C on the back door hanging.

Got this idea off pinterest! Got the letter from Hobby lobby , the moss and ribbon from the dollar store. Hot glue and hang! Easy and Cheap!

OUR LITTLE WEEKEND

Friday after the hospital we got to drive up to Cullman, AL and have a little fun on Smith Lake!

We got up Saturday morning and headed out on the water! We had a blast! Since the weather so super hot, we pretty much had to stay in the water the entire time.. Kaleb didnt mind the water, but hated his lifejacket!
Take a look!
