KEEPING SAFE

Since Jake and I were hit by the April Tornado in 2011 we are always in topic about safety and what to do in case of an emergency.I think you and your family should always be aware of what is going on and what to do to prepare.

The day of the tornado I was aware but I thought to myself.. I don't need to do anything about it because it want happen to me. Something like this would never happen to me or my family. But guess what, it did. So since then , I am aware of the world around me.

Here are a few things we do with my family.
1.We don't have a basement , so if there is bad weather we go to either my parents house or sisters house to mins. down the road. Know your safe place!!
2. Have a list of items you can grab quickly.( clothes, diaper bag, first aid, valuables)I have a place where I keep all my "valuables" and I seems to always think.. what would I do if I lost them!!??

3. Have your phone fully charged and have all your contacts listed in them. Including telling your children who to call when something happens -911
4. Tell everyone a location to go to - SAFE ZONE- in case of emergency

I wished we could do more, including being a hoarder of emergency items. Water, canned goods, first aid ect. Has anyone seen the episodes of DoomsDayPreppers?? Hilarious but scary show!! Crazy how intense some people will get for emergency situations. But some of it is very smart thinking and I wish we could do better~!

I came across this site. This lady on the 36th Avenue has listed it perfectly . Check it out!

Also, Please keep those families affected by Hurricane Sandy in your thoughts and prayers!

Praising our Lord!

Declare our Lord when voting!! Voting is in 11 days!!
Whether you are Republican or Democrat please vote in the eyes of our Lord! Not by the favorite poll! Do what is right please!!

I was listening to WDJC christian radio this morning on my way to work. They were speaking of this Decree?? I have no idea what that is.. and who wrote it. I just got the tail end of the conversation. I tried to look it up at work but was unsuccessful. Did anyone else listen this morning?? They were talking about a website that had a video explaining what it is and the reasoning behind it. All I understood it to be was that he was explaining the reason why he felt the way he did about our Lord and this country. I wish I could have found it But I did stumble across this

http://www.christianpost.com/news/alabama-pastors-decree-for-america-gaining-national-attention-83828/

If you know about the Decree please share. I would love to find out more about it!!

Anyway, I hope this helps you vote in the way that is right. I don't listen to much to the news or the debate, but I do believe, listen and talk to our Lord and Savior.  John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me..

Also a friend of mine shared a song with me today. I had never heard it. I enjoyed it!
She was telling me that 104.7 was taking a POLL to see if they should keep playing it our not. Listeners were taking it the wrong way.. because you shouldn't have a beer with Jesus. But the meaning in this song is not so much drinking with Jesus but talking with him. What do you think about this song??

Book Baby Shower

My really good friend is having her little boy very soon and me and my friend Amanda wanted to throw her a little shower to help for new baby. I wanted to do something different than just a your average shower. Some people like to do a "Dipe and Wipe" just a shower to give diapers and wipes. Some people like to do a shower at a restaurant. Well I did some research and did a "Book shower". This shower was purposely for building baby Walkers book library. Kaleb loves his books so much I was hoping that Walker would too!!

Darling Doodles did a fabulous job with the invites, invite inserts, water bottle labels, thank you labels and the little pendent for the wreath we made. All for a very cheap price!

Ol' Crip

Jake would kill me if he knew this picture was on the blog... But I wanted to give you a visual =)

Ol' Crip is Jakes new nick name at the house

So the past few weeks have been a little nuts =)
I wanted to give you a short version of it... I didn't want this to be too long of a post.

On September 14th, Jake was at work and stepped on 2 nails. He finished the job out and headed home. He was determined to head to the hunting club even though he knew his foot was swollen. I told him no, he needed to run either to a clinic and get a technous shot or run to the emergency room. He agreed and decided to go to Middle Creek Medical Center not to far from the house. After cleaning the wounds and getting shots and meds... he ended up not going to the hunting club, but straight back home.
The next 2 weeks resulted to more pain, more swelling , and more doctors visits. He visited a foot specialist and they ordered a Xray and MRI to see where the problem was taking place. They found that the nail had broken his bone and the infection was actually in the bone instead of directly on the nail wound.
Jake had surgery on Wednesday Oct. 3. He was at St.Vincents Hospital for 4 days. 4 longs days!  He came home Saturday at lunch with a smile!
Although he had a smile we both knew this would be a slow healing process. The doctor sent him home with a PICC line to have IV antibiotics for a month. He gets the meds every 8 hours. Nurse Kate ( me) takes care of that =) its really not that bad, I think I am a good nurse. Jake has learned to give it himself, when I am not at home to do it. He also re-dresses his foot twice a day because the wound is open and is still leaking out the infection. He goes back to the doctor on Monday the 16th to the orthopedic doctor to check on the bone and see the healing of his foot. I believe the doctor may put him in therapy and a boot.

Please continue to keep Jake and I in your prayers. This can be very serious for Jake if he can not fight the infection off.  Lords knows I don't want him back at the hospital. Kaleb and I would miss him again very much!
I wanted to say a Special Thanks to everyone who has been thinking about us! The texts, emails, calls and prayers have been very much appreciated!!

wedding pictures craft

After inspiration from Pinterest, My sister, and My sister n law(s)

I came up with a little wedding craft!
All you need is pictures, old window and vinyl ( optional) and a handman!
I think it was pretty simple and turned out great!
Thanks Heather for the vinyl!

I have it hanging in our bedroom. Now I need to redo the rest of the room! blah! =)

Our fun weekend!

We had a wonderful little weekend getaway. Friday I worked half a day and pack us up for the lake and the Chilton County Fair!
When I picked Kaleb up from Daycare, I told him where we were going and that we would fish and go on a boat ride too. He was so excited about the boat. Jake had it loaded and ready to go when we pulled in the driveway. Kaleb kept pointing and going crazy wanting to ride the boat already!
After dropping the boat and goodies at the lake house we headed to the fair!
Corndogs, lemonade and prizes here we come!!

I think this picture of them is hilarious!! Martians!!
Pee Paw letting Kaleb pick a duck. He loved the bat he got as a prize.. he wouldn't let it go!

His first ride was a spinney one!! I thought he would be scared or be sick... be he enjoyed it!! A sweet little girl sat beside him and was so good to him!

The second ride he was scared off, so I didn't take a picture.. But here is the third ride. The dinosaurs!

I let him get another prize .. He went fishing!! and LOVED It!!

We all had a great time!! The tickets were a little pricey.. In fact Jake said holly crap.. he better enjoy it... But after the first ride, Jake said.. that was priceless and totally worth the 20 dollars!

Saturday was spent just laying around watching football games. The guys watched the kids awhile so us girls could go have lunch and shop around. But another than that, it was pretty low key. We fished and took boat rides and watched tv and snacked! Such a great weekend getaway. We needed it bad!!
